An Undersea Adventure in a Lifetime of Discovery, Atlantis.

Atlantis was a collaborative project by The Stardust Arts students, taught by artist Cheryl Ehlers, at the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Griset Branch, Encinitas, CA., by sttudents, Nikki Costido, Ruby Fenney, Heather Gibson, Isabelle Kenny, Sarah Gallardo and Sean.

This was the first time the BGC has been invited by the 101 Artists Colony to participate in the 13^th annual Arts Alive Banner Project; it took 9 hours of painting for these first time students who are presently participating in the “Angels” program sponsored in part by a grant from the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Program, 2011.

Students were simply thrilled to see the finished project! Their video can be seen of its creation on YouTube, “thestardustarts1” channel. at http://youtu.be/eD_Yrd9us3I.

The Stardust Arts, is recognized by the California State Assembly and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, and is joint ventured with the non-profit organization, Dr. Wilderness Show out of Orange County who teaches “magic for the planet”. Look for us in the Carlsbad, Art in the Village in August 12, 2012 for a creative art activity center.

The banner, Atlantis, #7 is for sale, and will hang on Hwy 101 until mid May. when an open auction, May 20, 2012 at the Cardiff Town Center will host the 101 banners. Proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs, courtesy of Cheryl Ehlers.

Stardust would like to thank the host, Danny Salzhandler and the 101 Artists Colony for giving these children an opportunity to part of the art community. “ It was an experience they will never forget, and a lifetime memory,” stated artist, Cheryl Ehlers.

Artsonia Awards 9 Achivements Awards to Students

Stardust students from South Oceanside Elementary and the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Griset Branch in Encinitas have been awarded "achievement awards" for their art accomplishments.

Artsonia is the largest student art museum in the world! Every child has an online art gallery and preserves their masterpieces for all time!

Congratulations to, Liam, Drew, Lillian, Joey, Samuel,Kyle, Grace, Nikki and Ruby for recognition of your awesome art.

It's a "wonderful life"

How many times has a teacher reached out to their students, asking for no recognition but with the hope of having provided some special spark that would fill their life’s with lasting memories. To be honored by such a thoughtful, intelligent and talented young art student who took the time to care enough to show her pride is a wonder. Grace K. is an art student in The Stardust Arts, a program that develops creativity and imagination in art, and here is her story.

Grace K. writes; My Art Teacher, Cheryl Ehlers .

“I am writing about Cheryl Ehlers because I admire her and I think she deserves it. She is a very good teacher and artist. She is light hearted, funny, and makes learning about art fun.

Mrs. Cheryl Ehlers started painting when she was thirteen; So far she has been painting for forty-five years. What inspired her was “little things that people haven’t done.

Mrs. Ehlers also participates in contests with her art. Since 2007 she has entered in 78 contests. The contestants show their art to the judges who decide whose art is the best. She has her own personal website. www.cparrotiseart.com, it has Mrs. Cheryl’s art, biography, and art gallery of her work and a display of Stardust Arts student paintings. Stardust Arts is an art program for elementary school kids that she started in 2009. It took three months to organize it and start it.

She had several art teachers but one was wonderful. That teacher supported her greatly and was the one who pushed her on. Mrs. Cheryl made the program, because of her. Her favorite artists are Pablo Picasso. Her favorite painting is called Pepper. She painted Pepper herself. Pepper was an old parrot she had. Mrs. Cheryl Ehlers recommends being an artist’s because it shows who you really are.

Mrs. Ehlers Quotes: " You should paint what you feel. I never take lightly the gifts of talents I have been graced with in this lifetime and enjoy sharing my visions that are reflections in, my mind". You can see Grace's work on the website at www.thestardustarts.com.

The program explores spacial organization, creativity and builds confidence which enables children to seek higher goals in life and be successful in whatever they apply themselves too. It proves that having art in the schools creates a well rounded education.

Effort Support Underserved Students with Art

At a December 11^th holdiay bazaar hosted by the San Dieguito Art Guild, The Stardust Arts brought out the talents of many and the creativity of all young art students.

Participating in their first holiday bazaar to raise fund for underserved , students created a rainbow of items for the holiday. Ornaments, beautiful holiday cards, painted birdhouses and boxes amazed onlookers to know that they were created by 2^nd – third grades from South Oceanside Elementary School and the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Griset Branch in Encinitas.

Stardust student Kyle Cotton and his parents of Oceanside, show their support for the students and arrived just in time to see Kyle’s beautiful beach box, and cards purchased by Ethel Merrit, a previous developer of grant programs for the arts..”This is wonderful to see my sons; first sale”, stated Johnna and Kurt Cotton, the proud parents , as they watched their son beam with pride as he reached out to Ethel with a “thank you for supporting The Stardust Arts”, to their delight.

The event was successful in bringing in four new students into the next upcoming 2012 art session with instructor Cheryl Ehlers. The numbers might not sound like much to many, but to the 16 students that spent three weeks creating all the wonderful holiday creations, that was a complete success. They reached their goal of personally participating in something that gave them the joy and confidence to share their art and give back.

The professional printed Holiday Cards can still be purchased and viewed at www.thestardustarts.com and will remain available online until January 2012. Every dollar reaches toward the higher goal for more student sponsorships by Stardust Arts.

The Stardust Arts is presently being sponsored at the Boyd and Girls Clubs in San Diegutio by the City of Encnitas and Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant.

We are joint ventured with a non-profit, Dr. Wilderness Show and we are seeking sponsors and funding to continue our work for 2012 to reach out to the underserved and provide them an opportunity to experience the development and creativity in art. The program is recognized by the California State Assembly and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors and will work with any underserved groups to bring art into their lives and make a difference.
